What is it?
Phosphoric acid, H3PO4, is a strong acid used commonly for industrial purposes. Dilute solutions have been used to acidify urine and as an aid to remove necrotic debris. In dentistry, it may be used in silicate cements, and to etch enamel and dentin surfaces prior to application of various types of resins. In may also be used as a dispersing agent in pharmaceuticals. The primary use of phosphoric acid is in fertilizers.
